C'est le 14 juillet!

Today is a national holiday in France, when people remember the storming of the Bastille.
This was the beginning of the French Revolution -  the 14th July 1789.
Exactly 100 years later, in 1889, the Eiffel Tower was built.

In their French lessons today, Y3DK and Y4MS heard about the French Revolution.  They also decorated their own copies of the Eiffel tower, and painted on the tricolor colours (the French flag).
You can read more about the history behind Bastille Day by visiting this site: http://www.euroclubschools.co.uk/page76.htm

Vive la France!

Year 4 - D.T

During the year, Year 4 have completed some adventurous D.T projects; making pop-up books and board games to name a couple. So it would only be fitting to end the year by making our own Motte and Bailey castles which linked in with our History topic of the Normans!

Year 4 worked very well to make the castles which looked amazing! Well done!

Year 4 - Sports Day

Suttons Sports Day took place on Monday 11th July. Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed the day and all the activities that they took part in!

Year 4 - New Building

During the school year, year 4 have thoroughly enjoyed taking weekly pictures outside the new building to document the progress. It seems like just yesterday as we stood on the field taking the first picture and now in a few months we'll be inside the new building!

The following are the last few pictures taken during the school year. For the last 2 weeks, the back field was closed off so we had a change of scenery for these pictures!!

Year 4 - Literacy

In Literacy, Year 4 have been learning about persuasive writing. They have learned the features of persuasive writing and wrote many persuasive texts. However, we put our skills to
the test by working in small groups to verbally debate one side of a question. The children had to convince the rest of the class why their side of the argument was correct!

Year 4 - Maths Trail

Working in pairs, Year 4 completed a Maths Trail around the school. They had to find and answer a series of questions to work out the secret message on their sheet!

3AK - Kenning Writers with Neal Zetter!

This morning, we wrote Kennings about being a pupil and a teacher! We were lucky to have poem writer, Neal Zetter helping us!

There are two Kennings in this blog, can you spot them?

Year 4 - Art

In Art, Year 4 have created their own booklets based on some of their favourite/memorable places in the old school building. The booklet will be a great memento for the children to keep and reminisce over the old building!

Below are some of the photos we took!
